I had an urge to eat a really good bagel. I hadn't had one in a long time. I didn't want a grocery store bagle, i.e. Lenders, or a frozen bagle that I have to put in the toaster, but a real bagel. If I had gotten up really early I could have gone to Kroger or Public's bakery and purchased one from them, but by the time I get there they are all gone and the choice is just not what I'm looking for. There's aren't as fresh as I wanted. I began my search and realized there is no place to get a really good bagel in Stone Mountain. If there is, I want to know about it. I thought of Einstein's Bagel, but I didn't want a chain bagel and besides, I would have to drive up 285 to N. Druid Hills to get it. A week had gone by and I had not found a bagel. I asked my husband on Saturday morning to go on a trip to find a bagel, he agreed. We searched the internet and found a place called Goldberg's Bagel and Deli on Roswell Road. I knew that couldn't be a chain and decided to make the trip.

We drove up 285 taking exit 25 and turning left down Roswell Road. It was a few miles down, we passed the Einstein's on the right and kept searching. In a nice little shopping plaza next to Public's between Abadabba's and 5 Guy's Burgers was Goldberg's. The place was full of Saturday morning brunchers having bagels with locks, bagels with cheese, bagel chips, sandwiches, and the bagel selection was incredible. I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a dozen so I could take them home, but my husband made me realize we really couldn't eat a dozen so we decided on half dozen. I could choose three, he would choose three, and then we would have a delightful variety--better than we would find in any Public's or Kroger at home. I chose asiago cheese, salt, and an everything bagel. My husband chose everything, blueberry, and chocolate chip. Then we had the delight of looking at all the types of schmear to put on the bagel. I couldn't wait to get home to start munching.
